A Musical Magpie

The English Assassin is the musical alter-ego of Philip Solman, a Coventry kid whose personal history links post-punk bands to Indie Dance, post-industrial cities to new world vistas, and English cynicism to Canadian idealism. 

Let's just say that The English Assassin is a musical magpie drawing together 80s- and 90s-inspired sounds to craft songs with something to say about life, death, love, and politics, 

And all created from a quiet corner of Canada.

After Only 45 Years

It began back in the mists of time, when a 15-year old started a school band. After an interesting and diverse musical journey (and 45 years) The English Assassin is topping the charts in his old hometown.

Topping The Charts

Is There Enough of Me? topped the Hillz FM local chart the first week it was released, and follow up single, Love is a Small Word, also hit the top spot.
